I've always used gnome-disks to view the SMART assessment and temperature for both internal hard disks and external USB hard disks. However after upgrading to udisks2 version 2.11.1 on CachyOS the SMART assessment and temperature were no longer displayed. The three disk enclosures and one USB adapter have always worked before the upgrade.
I attempted to identify the exact cause of the udisks2 problem but, not being a kernel developer, I couldn't.
So I downgraded to udisks2 version 2.11.0 and the SMART assessment and temperature display worked again. I tested the three disk enclosures and one USB adapter on two different systems and the problem and solution was the same on both.
The disk enclosures are the Vantec NexStar HX, of which one uses the JMicron JMS567 and two the JMS578. The adapter uses the JMicron JMS578.
I'd like to add logs or other more detailed information but I don't know what you need. But if you'll let me know I'll be happy to provide it.
