The STM32Ethernet library is compiling against the both the H7 Ethernet HAL current and legacy definitions .
The identified problem is a HAL compatibility mismatch between STM32duino Core 3.0.0 and STM32Ethernet 1.5.0 which I found using the STM32H743.
Edit... the problem appears to be that both the current and the legacy drivers are loaded together , not one or the other.
STM32Ethernet 1.5.0 uses the older/legacy STM32 Ethernet HAL API (ETH_HandleTypeDef, ETH_DMADescTypeDef, HAL_ETH_Init(), etc.), whereas Core 3.0.0 only provides links to the newer H7 Ethernet HAL. Adding the legacy option results in both the current and the legacy being linked in together.
Consequently, STM32Ethernet cannot compile against the H743 using the current core/library combination without adding a workaround
