AVR turned off, turning gives wasapi error #59

Description

@Archy54

Hi I love this program and thank you so much for it. My only issue is the denon AVR when I turn off a pc connected via hdmi to the tv + avr, the denon I think disappears from the pc so throws a wasapi error. Is there a built in reconnect option that won't smash cpu etc or make a new snapcast device (I use home assistant music assistant to pc to avr > speakers as a streamer basically whilst using pc). If it doesn't exist can you implement a way to do polling to see if the avr comes back online, it's not a big issue as i just close the warning and click play in the morning to open it back up as a stream device but would like it to keep the same device when it comes back. Also to keep the toggle so i can also turn the device off when not needed but that isnt a big issue.

Thanks again for making my life easier, I tried airplay, dlna streaming options, etc and this has been the most simple end point setup for music assistant. It lets me use my home automation but also my pc for music without needing spotify in home assistant to spotify connect.

Also for Vlans if I ever segregate what Ports will I need to intervlan? The home assistant music assistant is the snapcast server. Thanks again.

    Hi! have you tried the "auto-restart on error" checkbox in the Player window's settings for that device (screenshot 1)? I have an audio device with a similar issue, that checkbox does pretty much what you're describing - it would fall over if Snap.Net is unable to recognize it as the same device as before though. If you find that it keeps creating new devices on the snapserver side of things, try filling something in for the Host ID field, that should pin it to a single one. Also if the wasapi errors get annoying you can disable them and let the auto restart handle it silently using the "silent retry" option (screenshot 2).

    As for required ports, Snap.Net only ever communicates over the ports you configure in the settings and broadcast tab (1705 is the default 'control' port which handles all the traffic around setting volume levels + metadata, 1704 is the default player port for receiving raw audio for playback, and 4953 is the default port for sending raw audio for broadcasting).

    Also, please check out the new experimental release of the Avalonia port - your setup sounds wonderful and I'd be really curious to see which features are still missing from the port to make these kinds of setups viable!

    cheers ill give it a try, i tried a different player that worked for the moment sendspinwindows. But thank you for letting me know about the host ID, that could be why it was having issues. Is it a text or number field? I'm still learning about all the protocols for casting and renderers, i leave a renderer in the background and when i turn off the avr i think the geforce 4060ti16gb doesnt see it anymore so it loses itself. I had some crackling for some reason on snapcast so i switched to sendspin for the moment. I couldn't see in music assistant what it was streaming apart from flac. atm it's on 24/48k. I'd get a few issues where it wouldnt connect back up to music assistant/home assistant too.

    One day I plan on going vlans, will mdns repeater on opnsense be enough as most media will be on one and the pc I am on will be on another (it's 10gbe to servers) and also hosts plex. I've only done some digging with gpt on what issues can arise and some googling. vlan1 media, servers 50, cameras 30, still working out what goes where. I think there was an opnsense udp broadcast relay too. iot will be 40 but that's a future project. Would be sweet to get dlna, chromecast, sendspin, snapcast, not that I have apple but airplay, and heos across intervlans for a few devices. But gotta get a lot more confident with networking first haha. Thanks for the help.

    Ok trying the experimental release. 1 thing, the players list got long and needs to be scrollable and moveable if possible. Sounds better but when the screen went to sleep and tv went to no signal (Hisense u7hau Australia) and it stopped playing on screensaver I guess activated no signal. but didnt restart when screen was available again. Ok Just tested black screen saver music stays on, when the tv decides no signal but avr says geforce still it cut the sound and when waking the screen up music assistant was still playing with the auto restart it didn't restart. Tv may have broken the hdcp chain or somethin. This is on the experimental build. The sound issues of glitching that showed up a few days ago stopped too.

    I'm wondering how I can do a screen saver without the tv going to no signal to avoid it. Hope that helps. Ill do more testing around this screen issue. Would love if the TV would just go dark to save power and it's using earc, the hdmi from PC is connected to the avr Denon x1700h. Using it as a remote steamer whilst the pc is using the tv. Think it was system > power > turn off screen vs the screen saver. Just turned off the tv (which turns off the avr as well and turned it all back on, just had to click pause then play on the music assistant and it connected back up to the PCNameAVRSNAP. Thank you sooo much for this. Tv with just screen saver goes to 43watts to 220-250 (normal for when it's on, 65inch). I tried so many casting renderers and this + windowsspin are the only 2 that worked easy for anyone that's reading (avalon version snap.net) for a windows PC.
