Bug description

This is a strange issue and have no logical explanation. On our staging server (Laravel Forge), there is a issue with the asset container and a folder named "statisk". If I upload a image on a collection, using the File-field, the image is not appearing when I navigate to the assets file explorer and vica versa. If start a bash shell, both files are there.

I have narrowed the issue down the folder gets its permission changed when uploading files. If I change the permission back to 775 it seems like working again.

Permission before uploading:

How to reproduce

Not sure how to reproduce. It's working at my local development, but not on Laravel Forge.

755 is the correct permission setting for folders. Files should be 644.

The issue you are facing is probably something else. What happens if you run a stache:refresh?

It seems like its some really strange caching issue going on. It does not help to clear the cache (stache:refresh, cache:clear, view:clear...). The same code works on my local development environment, both on Linux and Windows, so the issue might be related to Laravel Forge somehow.

If I run:
php artisan statamic:assets:clear-cache
php artisan cache:clear

The assets folder is updated. If I don't run cache:clear I get this error when I try to browse the assets folder with the bard editor:

The /icons? query does not work, while the /assets? query is correctly showing the file if the file is uploaded using the assets file explorer. Visa versa result if you are uploading a file through the File input.

The root cause seems to be that the Icons container is a subfolder of the Assets container and file changes aren't detected in real-time in production.

The icons folder is nested inside the assets folder. This creates an overlap where the same files appear in both containers but are tracked separately by Statamic's Stache.

The Icons container is a subfolder of the Assets container. Both asset containers are tracking the same physical files but with separate Stache caches.

assets disk → [assets] (which includes [ikoner])
icons disk → [ikoner]

When you upload to "Assets" and place it in the ikoner subfolder, it's tracked by the Assets container's Stache store. But the Icons container has its own separate Stache store that doesn't know about this upload.

On production with Laravel Forge, the Stache watcher is likely set to false (common for performance), meaning file changes aren't detected in real-time. The two containers become out of sync.

So guess its not a bug, but intended behaviour.
