This project has been in pre-release status (in Nuget) for close to 3-years and hasn't had an update in 2-years.

What are the plans for this project? Is .NET core support on the radar? Will it ever come out of pre-release status?

Apparently not.
https://github.com/sta/websocket-sharp/network
sta still actively maintaining this project.
However, he is just stopped updating NUGET for unknown reason.

@sta Can you please tell us about the plans related to nuget updates? The last nuget was downloaded ~350000 times, so there should be a lot of people being interested in the project.

I'm also adding "my two cents" to that topic

"Maintaining"...
So let's have a look at the latest commits:
https://github.com/sta/websocket-sharp/commits/master (or for people that read that comment in the future: https://github.com/sta/websocket-sharp/commits/master?after=4cbd1e0ccdbf9f5cb322a7c14e3c84e19db5dee1+0&branch=master )

There seem to be also some other changes that are making more sense, however i am unable to understand what they are doing, because

  • no issues or branches are used
  • the commits are information-less and always the same: [Modify] Replace it, [Modify] Edit it, [Modify] Add it, [Modify] Polish it, [Modify] <Year>

I can also not find any issue activity since 2017 or pr activity since 2016

The latest release to nuget was done in 2016, has ~500k downloads and is somehow a prerelease.
There are also other versions, however most of them are older than one year and many hundred commits behind current code.

I also don't get it why someone would do nearly every day 1-3 commits, but never releases a update to nuget. (looks like bot-behavior for me...)

TL;DR
This is one of the weirdest repositories that I have ever seen on GitHub so far.
I don't know or can even imagine what @sta is doing or what he even tries to achieve...

With the current status - no feedback from the author and de-facto no support - i can't recommend using the library to anyone.
Sad for such a great library.

I personally switched to a fork, so I have at least an .NET standard compatible lib.

IMHO
