Hmm.. are you asking about executing Spring Boot 3.5 OpenRewrite upgrade via STS UI for maven or gradle project? If yes, then Maven should run with no issues. Gradle is problematic because STS connects to gradle process via a certain set gradle api tooling version. Consequently, this is plagues with various incompatibility issues. Hence, Gradle may or may not work.
If you are going to apply OpenRewrite gradle or maven plugin and execute this upgrade via the maven or gradle task then I'd use maven opernrewrite plugin 6.2.3 and whatever corresponds to that for Gradle openrewrite plugin.

When STS 4.31.0.RELEASE out, we can use STS UI for upgrading, I am asking is it possible to use "UpgradeSpringBoot_3_5" recipe with maven or gradel plugin? Looks like OpenRewrite changed their policy, I could not find maven/gradle plugin for 3.5 upgrade in openRewrite website.
