Become a sponsor to Tom Schoonjans
Hi all!
My name is Tom, and I am currently employed as a senior software engineer @Genomicsplc in Oxford, United Kingdom.
Before my entry into the field of statistical genetics I had a career as a PhD student and post-doctoral researcher in Belgium, Italy and Germany, followed by a stint as data analysis scientist and software scientist @diamondlightsource, and as research software engineer @rosalindfranklininstitute: this corresponds to more than a decade of active scientific software development resulting in a couple of software packages (xraylib, XMI-MSIM, gtkmm-plplot, ...) that are actively used at universities, research institutes and industry.
This request for sponsorship targets in particular the latter category: if you are using tools like xraylib at your company and you find it useful and it contributes to your output, then please consider sending me a bit of money every month as a token of gratitude and as an incentive to continue maintenance of these projects, which happens mostly outside of my working hours nowadays... This being said: if you are PhD student or post-doc and you don't mind sending some cash my way, I won't tell you not to 😉
Apart from being/having been a scientific software developer, I am also an active maintainer of @homebrew and @conda-forge: feel free to reward my work there as well if you find it useful!
Any support will be greatly appreciated!
