file_list tome doesn't support relative paths

Expected to see my current dir but go /

This seems to be the culprit

Also doesn't support windows.
We'd like to support /, \, and \\ for our windows paths:
All of these should be valid:

file.list("C:\\Program Files (x86)\\")[0]                                                                                     
file.list("C:\Program Files (x86)")[0]                                                                                      
file.list("/Program Files (x86)/")[0]
