When I activate the NestedDataTypes module, the item-edit page load time goes from 3s to 22s. Is this normal / expected?
This increase in load time makes me deactivate the module, unfortunately.

I've been having a bit of a look into this, and with Nested DataTypes enabled and CIDOC-CRM imported besides the standard ontologies, the edit.html source generated has 60,000 extra lines of html added just for the nested field templates, i.e. the block of example template html below gets repeated for every property in every ontology that you have enabled in Omeka S. The more ontologies and properties, the bigger it keeps getting. This happens on every Item edit/create page, regardless of what item class or resource template you are using due to the design of Omeka S. There's no way to limit the templates pre-loaded to just those used in a resource template, as Omeka S doesn't know at that stage which resource template will be used.

I'm not sure there is an easy solution here. Perhaps if there were a way to define the property and class dropdowns once and then copy/reuse them in the js would greatly reduce the html generated and so speed up rendering? Or find a way to generate the template entirely in js only when needed? Alternatively, add a settings panel and possibly tables to create/edit lists of the classes and properties actually made available by Nested, so only a minimal set of templates get generated?

For anyone needing to use Nested for now, I'd suggest deleting all ontologies and properties not actually used as a means to speed up rendering in the create/edit Item pages.

@jlayt Thanks, and now that we have compatibility with version 4 I can take a look into it. I didn't find a solution back then, but I can try now
