looks like what we need to apply filtering operations on the xarrays.
As it stands there are complications with resample and anti-alias filtering. Basically the ns sampling intervals have fundamental drift issues (I mentioned this back in iris_mt_scratch repo) if we use for example 1/3Hz sample rate. Also, I see no reference to anti-alias filtering in the xarray resample docs ... so we want a way to apply IIR or FIR filters to xarrays.
xr-scipy seems to offer this but it looks like it never fully got off the ground (tests not fully passing, and last commit was a while ago).
