Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

When sharing the screen, only black and the mouse cursor is visible, despite granting the appropriate permission in System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Screen & System Audio Recording.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Signal Desktop on macOS
  2. Start a video call with someone
  3. Accept any permissions about the camera (presumably unnecessary, but there was another bug about this possibly being related)
  4. Click the button to share your scree, select 'all windows'.

Expected result

The other person & the miniature preview should show the contents of the screen

Actual result

The miniature preview shows a black screen with a cursor, and the other person complains that they cannot see anything :)
