calendar: PP feature request - add total number of PP rides on the PP ride header

It'd be cool to show the number of PP events at the top of the PP page. You can see this in practice on the 2018 page (and other old pages): http://old.shift2bikes.org/cal/viewpp2018.php

@carrythebanner and i talked briefly and spitballed some ideas about maybe just counting events returned from the DB call for the events, but it would be nice if there was a way to get that number quickly to show while the calendar loads (which we know will be a little slow during pp, once there are ~300 events on it).

If not that, then, maybe a separate API call that is just "count of rides in time window X-Y", or an HTTP header with the # of events returned/displayed, that the page can read...somehow?

The events endpoint now includes a pagination object with an events field with a count of events in the response. Note that it counts all records in the response, including cancelled ones; typically for PP counts (e.g. on the PP archive page) we exclude cancelled events.

Re: pagination object, note that #721 tweaked the behavior of the events request on the PP calendar page to fetch only the current date through the end of PP (not the entire festival).

See also #736. We could possibly make an endpoint just for a count, but if we had a way to fetch only a limited set of fields for a date range then it might be reasonably performant to use that for the count.

I think since we're fetching all the events for the calendar we could use that data, and don't need a specialized endpoint.
to create some good fomo we could have it read something like:
Bike Summer 2025: 500 rides and growing. 200 rides so far, 300 rides to go.
