Current Behavior
Problem:
After sending a message in a group chat, it will sometimes (mostly) disappear.
However, if I view the same group chat on my mobile devices, both on Android or IOS, I can, correctly, see the message that I just sent.
I've noticed that if I shutdown Session (on Linux) then restart it, almost always, the message is gone.
Then, if someone in the group chat "replies" to the "missing" message, the post has the text: "Original message not found" with the response of the person repling to my message. See Screenshot.
Notes:
-
This problem occurs only on the desktop versions for both Linux and Windows. Since I run it on Linux, I see this behavior more than 90% of the time. Group members using windows are also reporting the same issue (see screenshot).
-
I'm unsure if it happpens when all group members have seen the message and if I restart Session then it wipes the message out.
-
All members in the group are using the latest version on Android, IOS, Linux and Windows
-
All group chats are V2 created after the upgrade earlier this year and this issue has existed since then, so this is not due to the last update (or the few before that).
Expected behavior:
The message should be displayed in Linux just as it is showing , correctly, on mobile devices. i.e. the message exists but it's only showing up on mobile.
Steps to reproduce:
- In Group chat, on Linux, send a message
- Wait a few minutes
- Restart Session (optional but try this first)
- Message that was sent is not visible but open the same group chat in Android and it's there.
Session is a really good app and it can be so much more. Please let me know if you need any additional info.
