No I haven't. It's on my TODO list but it's a bit long at the moment. That's why I'm asking whether it'd be kindly possible for you take care of this. If not - no big deal. I'll get to it eventually.
Acted on what? I just did scanpy and anndata. I think I just said that I also think it’s a good idea. But sure, I can do it. I’ll take stock on which projects I have admin acces on RTD for, write an E-Mail for those, and tell here which projects I can’t access.
@Zethson did you or anyone else investigate about a free RTD org? Would relieve headache a lot here.
OK, as expected: I have access to zero of the remaining projects because we don’t have a RTD org. If I’m to do this, I need admin access for the following RTD projects (my RTD username is flying-sheep), granted by one of the following people:
Ohhh, I had understood you as "I reached out to NF and took care of this".
I've checked the RTD pricing before. They don't offer an academic rate publicly and I don't really know where to reach out. We are of course in agreement that an org would be awesome but 150$ a month is just steep.
Lmk what they respond. As said, I’m not proposing we pay 150 bucks, we’re not a company that can afford that.
I just asked them for the CNAME records, since all these projects are RTD community projects, which all need CNAME records pointing to simply readthedocs.io. (RTD business projects have individual, more complex records, so for scanpy & anndata, I had to configure these individually before knowing how the CNAME records would look like)
You can also configure these yourself instead of giving me permissions. Just go to https://app.readthedocs.org/dashboard/<yourproject>/domains/ and add <yourproject>.scverse.org. Don’t set as “canonical” yet. Once the CNAME records exist, you can revalidate there and then set it to “canonical”
decoupler, mudata, muon, pertpy, and rapids-singlecell are fully configured, and only missing updating links in the code i.e. pyproject.toml. The domain is configured and set as “canonical”, the github repo metadata is updated.
muon is still missing the DNS record since Claudia from NUMFOCUS asked for confirmation before replacing the old github pages one
squidpy and decoupler has the DNS record but hasn’t been configured on the RTD side yet (or its links in the GitHub repo metadata or the code updated)

While we are at it, we could also setup subdomains for packages that currently exclusively rely on readthedocs, e.g.
https://decoupler-py.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ -> decoupler.scverse.org

flying-sheep commentedon Mar 23, 2026
definitely up for that, numfocus controls the domain, right?
grst commentedon Mar 23, 2026
yes, only they can change DNS entries.
We'll have to send them a list of CNAME entries they should add.

Given both of you know how to do that, would it be possible for you to take care of that, please?
grst commentedon Aug 14, 2026
Did you already reach out to numfocus? I thought you created a ticket at some point for the DNS entries.

It wouldn't be a top priority for me atm, but I can take this up eventually.
flying-sheep commentedon Aug 14, 2026
I updated the list since I did anndata & scanpy in the meantime.
Looks like snapatac2 is the odd one out with it being on the TLD instead of a subdomain like the others
grst commentedon Aug 14, 2026
Snapatac subdomain is already setup in dns iirc. Just need to set it in gh pages
flying-sheep commentedon Aug 15, 2026
Done. Us talking about it was literally more work than just doing it.
Zethson commentedon Sep 23, 2026
@flying-sheep it's been a month. Has NF acted? What's the status of this? Could you please always CC us in emails so that we're in the loop?
Thanks!

Sorry, just sent you the invite for RTD

no worries, I didn’t expect this to go so fast.
I took the liberty to switch the standard version from
latesttostable, I hope that’s OK? So https://decoupler.scverse.org/ and https://decoupler.scverse.org/page/api.html now redirect to that.… oh i mean booo, hiss, @michalk8 and @giovp haven’t reacted yet, slowpokes 😜
