Damn, this took waaaay too long. First I could not decide on a good code structure. Then there was the subtle issue that you are not looking for exactly three or five characters, but rather at least three or five characters. Finally, I had a sweet little off-by-one corner case, combined with a faulty
Optional.empty(). At least I eventually found it.
