Thanks for the question @sakibulhasannirob! Short answer: ESP8266 won't work, but there's an even better path using Android TV boxes — the same cheap set-top boxes used for IPTV.

The ESP8266 simply doesn't expose Channel State Information (CSI), which is the core data our system uses for pose estimation.

What DOES Work: Android TV Box as Aggregator

Those cheap Android TV boxes (T95, H96 Max, X96 — $15-35) are actually ideal deployment targets when running Armbian (Debian for ARM) instead of Android:

• Available globally, no specialized hardware ordering

Future: Custom WiFi Firmware (No ESP32 Needed)

The WiFi chipsets in these TV boxes (RTL8822CS, BCM43455) can potentially be patched for CSI extraction under Linux. This would make a $25 single-device solution — one box does capture + inference + display. This is a Phase 2 R&D effort.

Mobile App

For phone-based monitoring, our sensing server already serves a web UI. We're adding PWA (Progressive Web App) support so you can "install" the dashboard on any Android/iOS device — no native app needed.

Implementation Tracking

We've created:

• ADR-046 — Full architecture decision record with deployment diagrams, phased implementation plan, and hardware recommendations
• Deployment Platform DDD Model — Domain model covering appliance management, cross-compilation, kiosk display, WiFi CSI bridge, and network topology

TL;DR: ESP8266 can't do WiFi CSI, but a $25 Android TV box running Armbian + our sensing server is a much better "mobile" solution. Combined with 2-3 ESP32-S3 nodes ($10 each), you get a complete room-sensing system for ~$55 with HDMI display output.
