RUSTFLAGS="--edition=2021" rustc src/main.rs will still warn

`--edition` is unspecified, defaulting to `2015` while the latest is `2024`; it must be one of: <2015|2018|2021|2024|future>

obviously the message is nonsense in this context

    I don’t think rustc knows or cares about RUSTFLAGS, that’s a Cargo-ism, isn’t it?
