Unicode diacritics are not correctly selectable

Description

After unicode diacritics characters are inserted, when trying to copy/modify a portion of the line, it will not apply the wanted actions at the rendered location.

A bunch of blank characters appears after the string:

Trying to copy the text inside the quotes only copies the H with some of its diacritics

Indeed, there are 2 related issues that are in fact quite old ^^:

Any progress on this? As of today, the editor doesn't treat certain unicode characters correctly even when the font has all the characters and displays fine in other editors.
