This is my first go at an early rust event post for 2018.
Includes the three major conferences plus

Todo:

  • Fill in RustFest date (hopefully in a day or 2)
  • Decide on publishing date (currently set to Friday, 19th January)
  • Any major event missing?

This is a community team effort, coordination happening here: rust-community/team#196.

might be neat to add some instructions here for how to get your event listed on our calendar or spotlighted in posts like this

cc @Manishearth if you wanted to start a Switchboard team repo and have instructions there, that might be nice!

i think we could add a few more sentences to this intro. something like "last year we wrote [link to last year] this year we are hoping to write a few posts spotlighting events that we have across the world. here are a few that we know of so far! if you have an event please contact XXX"

depending on if this goes out before or after our goals RFCs for comm team and the larger roadmap post we might allude to how these events help the language achieve goals XYZ

@sebasmagri Maybe we should mention Rust Day Mexico here as well?

Also, we should mention there will be a fall edition of RustFest.

we might consider saying "If you are running a Rust event or are interested in starting one..." we only have so much bandwidth but id rather get all the incoming and triage in community team rather than make it obscure as to how to do that. it's a nice gesture to give the option.

After a very successful [Birds of a Feather][bof] session for Rust last year at FOSDEM,
this year will have the first edition of the [Rust Dev Room][fosdem-rust].
Co-located with [FOSDEM 2018][fosdem], the annual conference about free and open source software,
it will bring together the Rust community in **Brussel, Belgium**.

Nit: I believe it's Brussels in English (I'm prone to making that mistake myself)
