Support Ruby 3.4.2 for ubuntu-26.04 #943

Description

@matiasgarciaisaia

I'm upgrading my project's CI to use the new ubuntu-26.04 Github Runner image (x86), and setup-ruby fails with:

Run ruby/setup-ruby@v1
  with:
    ruby-version: .ruby-version
    bundler-cache: true
    token: ***
Using 3.4.2 as input from file .ruby-version
Modifying PATH
Entries added to PATH to use selected Ruby:
    /opt/hostedtoolcache/Ruby/3.4.2/x64/bin
Downloading Ruby
  https://github.com/ruby/ruby-builder/releases/download/ruby-3.4.2/ruby-3.4.2-ubuntu-26.04-x64.tar.gz
  Took 0.14 seconds
Error: Error: Unavailable version 3.4.2 for ruby on ubuntu-26.04
You can request it at https://github.com/ruby/setup-ruby/issues
          Cause: Unexpected HTTP response: 404

So here I am, requesting for that :)

Let me know if I can help somehow with that.

Thanks for the support!

If you can upgrade to the latest patch version Ruby 3.4.11 the ubuntu-26.04 runner should work right away.

Yes, in general we only build the latest patch releases of every series for new runners.

That should be better documented though, including in this error message.

I ended up upgrading to 3.4.11, yes - but that meant some regressions (specifically, we were mistakenly calling some private methods, and 3.4.3 triggered that).

We were able to fix that, but, yes - if supporting older releases is meant to be an exception, the error message could be improved. Upgrade to x.y.z, or request exceptional support if you consider it worthy at https://github.com/ruby/setup-ruby/issues?

The link could even be to an issue or discussion explaining when it would make sense to request support vs simply upgrading.

PS: Not even sure how complex it'd be to do the Upgrade to x.y.z part, resolving the specific version - but definitely welcome if viable.
