pyechomask
A python package that creates and manipulates noise and signal masks using echosounder data
In the above example (underlying data recorded by a EK60 echosounder operating at 18 kHz), sound scattering layers (biological layers formed of mid-trophic level species such as zooplankton and small fish) are first identified (top plot: Sv value, dB re 1m-1), following Proud et al. (2015) and then individually masked (bottom plot: mask value) ready for further analysis (e.g. using pyechometrics).
