🚶 stride - Track your daily steps with ease

Download Stride

Stride helps you count your steps. This tool brings Material 3 design to your daily fitness tracking. It runs on your computer or phone to track movement and activity throughout the day. It focuses on clean visuals and simple data.

📥 How to download the app

  1. Open your web browser.
  2. Go to the official release page.
  3. Look for the Assets section at the bottom of the latest release.
  4. Download the file that ends in .apk for Android devices.
  5. Save the file to your device.
  6. Open your file manager and tap the downloaded file to install it.

⚙️ System requirements

Stride works on most Android devices. Ensure your device meets these requirements for a smooth experience:

  • Android 8.0 or newer.
  • At least 50 MB of free storage space.
  • A functional pedometer sensor on your device.
  • Battery optimization settings that allow background activity.

🚀 Setting up the app

Once you install Stride, find the icon on your home screen. Open the app to begin. You will see a prompt for permission. Stride needs access to your physical activity sensors. Grant this permission to allow the counting process to start. The app measures your movement even when it stays in the background.

📱 Features

Stride organizes your data into a clear layout. You can view your step count for the current day. The interface uses Material 3 principles to ensure buttons and text remain easy to read.

  • Daily goal tracking: Set a step target and watch the progress ring fill up as you walk.
  • Power efficiency: The code runs in a way that preserves your battery life.
  • History view: See how many steps you walked last week or last month.
  • Privacy first: Stride stores all your data on your local device. It does not send your personal activity to external servers.

💡 Troubleshooting common issues

If you encounter problems, look at these steps:

  • Step count does not update: Check if your phone has a built-in step sensor. Some older devices lack this hardware.
  • App crashes: Remove the app and reinstall it from the release page.
  • Permission denial: If you accidentally denied the sensor permission, go to your phone settings. Find the Apps menu, select Stride, and enable the Physical Activity permission under the Permissions tab.
  • Background closing: Some phones have aggressive battery savers. Check your battery settings and set them to Unrestricted for Stride. This keeps the counter active when you lock your screen.

📈 Understanding your data

The main dashboard shows your current count. A progress bar tracks your distance versus your target. You can change your daily goal in the settings menu. Stride updates the total count periodically to save energy. If you walk for a short time, you might see a small delay before the number changes on your screen. This is normal behavior for the application.

🛡️ Privacy and storage

Your activity data is your own. Stride saves files to your local storage. It does not require an internet connection to function. You can clear your data at any time through the app settings or by clearing the app cache in your Android system menu. We do not track your location or your movement path.

🛠️ Customizing the display

The Material 3 design allows you to adjust the visual style. You can switch between light and dark themes. The colors of the interface adjust based on your system preferences or your selected wallpaper. Navigate to the Settings menu to toggle these options. You can also change the unit of measurement if the app monitors distance alongside your steps.

📋 Tips for accurate tracking

Carry your phone in your pocket or a tight bag for best results. Sensors inside the phone detect the rhythm of your gait. If you carry the phone in a loose bag, the sensor might miss steps. Keep the phone on your person while you walk to ensure the highest level of accuracy throughout the day. Stride handles periodic inactivity well, but it performs best when you keep the device with you.
