On macOS, one can open a page in the system default browser via open <url> on the command line.

We could also try to understand how gh browse is implemented.

We could probably use https://github.com/cli/browser to do the actual "open browser stuff".
It uses BSD 2-Clause "Simplified" License. Does anybody know if this is compatible with MIT License used by mob.sh?

I would rather choose the simple way via a preinstalled command line feature. For Mac we could use open https://example.com. For windows and powershell i found Start-Process "https://example.com" and for linux we could try xdg-open https://example.com or gio open https://example.com

mob timer open... a bit too dynamic for me. The argument to open then could be either a number or a keyword.
But I suppose golang is dynamically typed. Even so, would the library you're using for CLI parsing support this?

At the moment we do not use a lib for parsing and just do it by ourselfs. But you are right, this could be a problem in the future as I would like to use the golang standard flag package for the parsing in the future. then something better could be mob timer --open.

Regarding the open-golang package. One of our design principles is to use just the standard lib of go. Therefore we could get inspired by this package how we can solve this issue, but i think we should solve it by our own.

So for CLI parsing you intend to make an exception to the principle of not using libraries or am I missing something?

No the flag library is part of the standard go lib.

I don't think mob web would be good as this does not show that it will open the timer web page. We do not have anything else in the web yet, but i think something with timer would be more self explaining. Do you prefere this because it is short?
I prefere mob timer --open because it is clear that the timer is meant and it would also help as we want to refactor the commands to different packages as this would then belong to the timer package. A short way to call this could then be mob t -o. Would that be ok?
