Property 'React' doesn't exist

The following error occurs in version 1.2.1.
I believe this issue started with this commit, and I am still using version 1.1.6.

Warning: ReferenceError: Property 'React' doesn't exist

It seems that this was an issue specific to my project, and the problem was resolved with the following diff.
