SYNC ON GREEN SELF-LOCKING BUTTON and RGBS SYNC SELF-LOCKING BUTTON buttons for PS2 component cable (YPBPR)

When we input the GBS via a component cable (YPBPR) from the PS2 to use HDMI output, should the "SYNC ON GREEN SELF-LOCKING BUTTON" and "RGBS SYNC SELF-LOCKING BUTTON" buttons be on or off? I've seen a manual saying that the buttons have to be on and I've seen other manuals saying that they have to be off, which causes me some confusion. Do you have any idea what the correct configuration would be for this?
