Should we remove the term 'network gas' from the ETM?

The term 'network gas' is not often used by other organizations and therefore we have to explain the definition quite regularly. (Maybe the term is even only used in the ETM?! ;) )

I would like to propose to remove the term 'network gas' everywhere in the ETM. I see three ways to fill up the space it leaves behind:

1. Replace 'network gas' everywhere with 'methane'
2. Split the 'network gas' values everywhere into two values: 'natural gas' and 'green gas'. For example then the chart below would show 'green gas' instead of 'network gas', as this scenario has 100% green gas.
3. Keep the term 'network gas' in the ETM

I would say that using the term 'methane' would not entirely be correct, given that 'network gas' is a mixture that also contains other gases such as nitrogen and hydrogen. Using the term 'natural gas' therefore has my preference from both of the options posed above.

However, I'm not entirely sure if the term 'green gas' is widely used in English. It seems to me that 'biogas' is more common and that 'green gas' might be a literal translation of the commonly used Dutch term 'groen gas'.

In my opinion a last option would be to simply change the word 'network gas' to 'gas'. What do you think about adding this option to your overview @marliekeverweij?

Green gas is also used in English. Biogas is really a different kind of gas, it contains less methane than green gas. Biogas is often upgraded to green gas to be used in gas networks.

In my opinion a last option would be to simply change the word 'network gas' to 'gas'. What do you think about adding this option to your overview @marliekeverweij?

I am not really in favour of this because users could also think that hydrogen is included in 'gas', as hydrogen can also be a gas.

Two final remarks about using 'gas'/'natural gas' instead of 'network gas':

1. I think it might be more consistent to use 'gas' when you look at the other categories in the chart: they are all general instances of final demand. Electricity for example also isn't separated into renewable and fossil electricity.
2. If we do change it to 'natural gas' then we also have to revise the new flexibility charts, as we do use the term 'gas' in the legends of those charts.
