Multiple custom projects in one repo

Description

Currently using templates from Github, assume 1 template per repo. For example
quarto use template brianmcdonald/quarto-templates-DTM/)

However, if a person is creating many template and wants to keep them in the same repo, the quarto use command above does not work for a specific directory/template under the root.
For example: quarto use template brianmcdonald/quarto-templates-DTM/slide) should ideally create a template from just the slide template but instead pulls all of them.

Am I doing something wrong or is the ability to pull a template from a sub directory in a repo not a current feature? I think being able to keep and use many templates in a single repo would be very helpful, rather than requiring individual repos for each.

Do you have a concrete example which is not the documentation in your case?

Could you also clarify what you are calling a template here? Because it does not seem to be the Quarto definition of it which is "the template.qmd file at the root of a repository holding a Quarto extension".

Side note: hosting several extensions in one repository might have some advantage but it has the major drawback of making them less discoverable on the web and on GitHub. It also means tools such as the following listing of extensions and Quarto Wizard VSCode/Positron extension will be unable to use those extensions.

Apologies, I should have said custom projects/formats rather than templates.
An example would be the custom projects I'm working on in this repo https://github.com/brianmcdonald/quarto-templates

I would like to continue creating custom projects and adding them to their own folders rather than creating a new repo for each and pointing my users to many different repos.

I suppose a workaround could be for me to use a Github Action to zip each folder and point my users to the zip file links

Actually, maybe I'm confused or doing something wrong - it seems that the typst-templates shows the behaviour I was looking for, but when I try it on one of the directories in my repo it seems to pull all directories rather than the one I specified.

An update on this - I accidently had a .quartoignore file in the root directory, which caused the issue above. Once removed everything worked as expected.
