Validating per sample FASTQ files doesn't catch empty files

I uploaded a set of gzip'd FASTQ files to a study. They successfully passed the per sample FASTQ validation. However, they did not successfully pass QC as some of the files were empty. Should validate per sample FASTQ filter out or flag empty FASTQs?

If I remember correctly, the validate checks that the forward/reverse match and that they have a correct run_prefix, not content ... but it could. Perhaps checking that the files are bigger than X and actual fastq/fastq.gz will be a good idea ...
