CephCollector doesn't show any errors on permission denied

When using CephCollector, I was getting permission denied on the socket:

diamond@cephhost:~$ /usr/bin/ceph --admin-daemon /var/run/ceph/ceph-mon.cephhost.asok perf dump
admin_socket: exception getting command descriptions: [Errno 13] Permission denied
admin_socket: exception getting command descriptions: [Errno 13] Permission denied

But this didn't show up in the log:

To fix, I had to add group-write access to the socket, and put diamond in the ceph group

@shortdudey123 do you have any interest in reviving #321 ? I would like to see this work merged. conversation died off in Feb. What can I do to help?
