clear .yml vs. .yaml confusion

docs sometimes mention invoke.yml and sometimes invoke.yaml - and to add insult to injury, sometimes it's expected to be a hidden file (.invoke.yml/yaml) ??? Which is it?

Please clarify the docs in this regard. This is very confusing to a newcomer.

FYI, having the user-home-directory-level variant of a config file be hidden (a "dotfile") is a common configuration file pattern :)

Re: inconsistency between yaml/yml, yea, we started with .yaml and added .yml support later, so I'm sure the docs could use some standardization. Thanks for bringing it up!

I could take on this Low-hanging fruit task, but what is the preferred / recommended suffix?

.yaml because it's mentioned in the YAML spec
.yml because it's a common practice and recognized by more editors

The documentation should mention that both are supported, but I assume we don't want all file names mentioned in both variants there.
