Add an example or documentation on using 'bhi' from ERA5 #2880
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The bhi parameter from ERA5 (total_sky_direct_solar_radiation_at_surface, https://codes.ecmwf.int/grib/param-db/228021) is direct irradiance through a horizontal surface. This is not very common in PV, and users may not know how to convert it to DNI, or that it needs to be converted.
Describe the solution you'd like
Either some more details in the get_era5 docstring, or a gallery example.
Hi, I’d like to contribute to this issue. I propose starting with a focused update to the get_era5 docstring explaining BHI versus DNI and how to convert between them, including the relevant limitations. Would you prefer this approach or a gallery example?
A short docstring description of BHI, e.g., something like the ECMWF description: "[The returned parameter bhi is the amount of radiation passing through a horizontal plane, not a plane perpendicular to the direction of the Sun [(dni)]"
A more detailed update to the docstring (maybe a table, like read_bsrn and get_merra2?)
An even more detailed update to the docstring with some suggestion about how to use solar position to convert from BHI to DNI
A gallery example
No need for a gallery example until at least one or two of the higher priority items are added. And maybe no need for a gallery example at all.
But I'll defer to maintainers on what, if anything, should be pursued.

@anshurajbisoyi98-ctrl, my personal opinion is that the priority should be:
bhiis the amount of radiation passing through a horizontal plane, not a plane perpendicular to the direction of the Sun [(dni)]"No need for a gallery example until at least one or two of the higher priority items are added. And maybe no need for a gallery example at all.
