OpenTreeMap is open source software for collaborative, geography-enabled urban tree inventory. OpenTreeMap provides an easy-to-use public inventorying platform that enables individuals, organizations, and governments to collaboratively contribute to an interactive and dynamic map of a community’s tree population. OpenTreeMap is a project of Azavea and Urban Ecos.

Installation Guides (Start here!)

  • VM (Vagrant) based install process - Official step-by-step installation instructions for Vagrant or other virtual machines. This is the most current document (for v1.3) and covers installation from a blank machine to getting a viewable treemap in detail.
  • Install process on Ubuntu 12.04 - Alternate, community-contributed install guide. Currently only covers part of the process, but is occasionally updated.
  • First Installation - More basic and older document for OpenTreeMap v1.2.
