Support for common status/synchronization functions

The lib currently operates blind and trusts you to validate that commands are being received and interpreted well, without overloading fifo etc.

There are standard mechanisms in place, such as *WAI/*OPC (wait and op complete) as well as status/event status stuff (CLS, STB, ESE...) and it would be nice if the base classes would have some simple support for these.
