Code name: Modernist Musings

• Improves representation of Modernista authors, to help compare Latin American and Philippine Modernismo:
  • Adds 140 sonnets by Rubén Darío
  • José Santos Chocano is now represented with a total of 130 sonnets (80 added)
• Sonnets bear the usual automatic annotations: metrics, rhyme scheme (obtained with Rhyme Tagger), rhyme word.
• For the added sonnets, metrical annotations were carried out with the Jumper tool
• Metrics for the Philippine sonnets were reannotated with Jumper, instead of Rantanplan, used in v4 for these same sonnets, because Jumper performs better for complex meter (≥12 syllables) and Modernista sonnets often involve complex meter.
• Metrical annotations for Darío, Santos Chocano and the Philippine authors were revised manually by one expert annotator.
• This release includes the corpus for our Hispanistentag 2023 presentation.

Version 4.0

Code name: Filipino Feel

• Adds sonnets by Filipino authors (19th-early 20th century), with the usual annotations for the corpus:
  • Rhyme scheme, annotated with Rhyme Tagger, and rhyme word
  • Scansion in the new sonnets was annotated with Rantanplan; the rest of the corpus is still annotated with the ADSO tool
  • Enjambment was annotated with ANJA
• Manual corrections of some rhyme annotations were carried out elsewhere in the corpus (mostly in 19th century sonnets)

Version 3.0

Code name: Interface, Indeed

• Adds rhyme scheme and rhyme word annotations
• Enjambment now only marked on the first line of the line pair
• New file-naming conventions based exclusively on author IDs and poem IDs (see here). A mapping table from poem IDs to poems' basic metadata is also added.
• Version was used for our chapter in the Computational Stylistics in Poetry, Prose and Drama volume; the chapter describes the DISCOver interface to explore the corpus
• Even if the v3 release was created in 2021, its content (but for small corrections) was published in 2019 as the v3 branch; upon release creation, the v3 branch was deleted as unnecessary
