Description
As agreed #1301, I have now applied to register PROGHIST LTD with Companies House (UK) as a Non-Profit Private Company Limited by Guarantee (there was a small fee for this which I don't mind absorbing). The initial Directors and Guarantors are me, @acrymble and @amsichani. On closure of the company, we each commit to guaranteeing liabilities up to the value of £1. I've made the registered address of the company by office at Sussex (#1301) and set the email correspondence address as programminghistorian@gmail.com and business correspondence address as my office (Adam, AM: your correspondence addresses are your home addresses, so should these change, we'll need to change the info online). Anyone logging into the shared email, please note there is a bunch of stuff there from Companies House that I will get to in due course. If the application is successful, we will be operational from 1 October (the short delay gives us time to get some other admin in place: books, registration with HMRC, et cetera.
Keith Lawrey from the Foundation of Science & Technology kindly walked me through this process. He informs me that as and when we wish to make changes to the company, we do so via the online portal (I have the login for this: @acrymble @amsichani I shall forward to you). The first changes we will make will be to Directors (as the idea is to add each of the 3 managing editors) and - potentially - guarantors (as this probably should be the whole Editorial Board).
Anyway, more soon (especially when we are accepted/rejected), just wanted to keep you updated.
