building and browsing site but cannot view examples

This must be a trivial problem. After forking and cloning p5.js-website and following instructions
I can get website up and running however when I try to view one of the examples I get the following

Cannot GET /examples/motion-bouncy-bubbles.html

How do I correctly build the site with working examples to browse?

Is it only one of the examples or all of them?

I'm not able to replicate the problem. You should be able to just clone the repo, run npm install then grunt server and it should all work. If you are still having problem, can you check in the cloned folder and in dist/examples/ whether there are any files in there after running grunt or grunt server.

output from grunt server shows only one file generated in dist/examples/index.html and I have checked folder and its only the index.html file there. No errors reported during running of grunt server

That's rather unusual, can you try starting from a fresh clone of the repo?

just directly cloned repo locally and built it
I do get some warnings and have run npm audit fix
still same outcome however

Maybe don't run npm audit fix, just clone the repo, run npm install then grunt server.

okay so cloning and building repo definitely fails. However I have directly downloaded zip file and unpacked, run npm install and grunt server and it successfully builds and runs site with examples. So there is a difference between pulling from repo and zip file - didnt think that there would be

I am also getting this type of error.

Cannot GET es/zh-Hans/examples/

but I go to the homepage in this and then come to the examples then this will not occur.

@Mcuz There shouldn't be a different between cloning and downloading a ZIP in terms of building the site. I cannot say much else though as I cannot replicate this issue but if you manage to build the site sucessfully one way or another that's OK I guess.

@17bcs029 es/zh-Hans/examples/ is not a valid link (es being the Spanish translation and zh-Hans being the Chinese translation).

Git for Windows can change the end of line characters in files. This breaks findName() in src/data/examples/build_examples/build.js

yes I am using a windows platform (take it that you are all using linux or mac?). so my settings for git should be checkout as-is commit as-is (would be good if someone could verify). I will try settings and see if it fixes the problem. @takyano well spotted if thats the case

verification: changed git autocrlf setting to false
cloned repo, npm install, grunt build, grunt server
site and examples now working!

zip files must preserve original line endings, while git on windows by default converts on checkout
also use an editor that preserves original line endings after editing source
