using cvs-fast-export and reposurgeon. Some CVS artifacts and junk commits
were removed. Committer timestamps have been bumped so they're unique.

Author attributions from before the conversion should be viewed
skeptically.  They were not present in the CVS metadata, but were
deduced at conversion time by looking at ChangeLog files. Author
timestamps are as correct about calendar dates as the ChangeLog
enties are, but the times are fictitious - copied from the committer
time stamp in order to share its uniqueness properties. Author time
zones, on the other hand, are often (though not guaranteed always) correct.

The tail of this repository is seven commits each capturing an early
release of the code from before the CVS history.  They were made from
archived tarballs and/or comp.unix.sources shar files and patches.
The commit dates are the release dates, but may have time zone issues.
