Upgrade to the latest Node.js LTS version, 20 -- mainly a formality for development purposes.
But mainly, relax the
engines
requirements: as a library, we shouldn't be too strict about the Node.js and npm version our users have but rather define the supported minimum version and bump it when necessary. We can define a maximum if a breaking change appears later on, but eschew it for now.Also update GitHub Actions to their latest versions, so that they also use Node.js 20 and simplify CI by using
.nvmrc
as the source of truth for CI's Node.js version instead of maintaining it separately (no more forgetting to update CI).
