Unable to Update Existing Taxonomy Site Column to Multi-Values Taxonomy Field through PNP commands

I am currently working with a SharePoint site column configured as a managed metadata (taxonomy) field. The column was initially created as a single-value taxonomy field.

At a later stage, there is a requirement to allow multiple values for this column. However, i tried multiple ways to update the field using powershell script because i need to update this field in multiple sites, suggest me the best way to do it

You can try this below script

$field = Get-PnPField -Identity "Issue5271"
$ctx = Get-PnPContext
$taxField = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.Taxonomy.TaxonomyField]$field
$taxField.AllowMultipleValues = $true
$taxField.Update()
$ctx.ExecuteQuery()

With the above script you can set the managed metadata field to AllowMultipleValues to true
