A review of how the site presents use cases is in drafts/use-case-section-review/. This commit makes the first set of changes. - Use Cases overview rewritten: what a use case is, the kinds of page, the two groups in reader terms, one register with a "who decides what" column and four plain status values, what is not a use case, how the section relates to the methodology, and a note on the draft profile versions. About half the previous length. - New page, Proposing a use case: when to propose one, the status definitions, the eight-part shape, and why worked examples stay out of the methodology. These moved off the overview. - Catalogue numbers dropped from the register and group pages; "PQC migration" and "Substation automation (OT)" used consistently; "placeholder" becomes "proposed". - IoT's out-of-date preamble retitled "Choosing the decision". - Methodology page rewritten as "Starting from a use case": what a use case is, why it comes first, one document and several profiles with the limit, and where the use cases are. It lists no use cases; old anchors resolve to a one-line redirect. Moved from "Start here" to "Applying it", before Method; footers regenerated with tools/renumber-pagenav.py. Two groups defined by who produces the CBOM and who relies on it, proposed as an amendment to draft decision 0023. - Operation (operation.html): the operator describes what it runs. Moves in managed and cloud service disclosure and stored data; adds harvest-now- decrypt-later exposure, migration progress over time, and the operator's migration register. Owns Q36, Q37, Q45, Q67 and Q68. - Assurance (assurance.html): a reader relies on the document as evidence. Moves in regulatory and compliance reporting; adds certification and validation evidence and readiness assessment evidence. Owns Q14, Q29, Q60, Q44 and Discussions #18 and #37. Marked as the least settled group. - Overview: "Four groups" table (what sets each apart, who produces, examples) and eight new register rows. Navigation, footers, links from Lifecycle Data, the methodology redirect list, the IoT page, proposing, template and the home card updated. In the style of the Keycloak diagrams, with the same colours per interface type and full text alternatives. - Section 1: the reference system, two zones and one conduit, with every path drawn by kind (TLS, key distribution, symmetric multicast, engineering, the conduit tunnel). - Section 2: data plane and key plane, tracing five paths from the message to what protects it to where its keys come from, with an illustrative post-quantum status for each. - Section 4: component documents and the system overlay, showing what the integrator's document states and what it cites. - Section 5: the protection IED at its boundary, its ten interfaces read from the outside. Rewrite clipped and dense sentences into simple, complete ones across
the overview, Proposing, the four group pages, the four worked examples,
the template and the methodology's "Starting from a use case" page.
Split semicolon chains, replace jargon ("long pole", "has teeth",
"orientation is inventory") with plain wording, and give fragments a
subject and verb. No change to meaning, rules, anchors or links.
