HA Integration needs some work..

First off; awesome setup. Ironically had been trying all morning to get pre-existing programs running on my RPi/the tree and bumped into yours (which conveniently had HA integration as well) and it actually worked!

While getting it setup I noticed the HTML input for the MQTT server info keeps refreshing before there's a chance to actually fill in all 3 text fields; as a result I modified the settings.json myself and it seems connected now but the control from HA/MQTT seems pretty much non functional. If I have more time today I'll dive in further to try to debug a bit as I figure this is a passion project for you as well.
