It's only taken me 5 years to come up with a solution that doesn't need an API change! Uses server_conf which may be available in dm_db.c. It is therefore not so good for e.g. dbmail-util or dbmail-deliver which will all show as dbmail_client. This could be fixed with a new extern?
No API change means doesn't impact the existing tests.
I think by now no need to check for libzdb >= 2.8. Debian stable has 2.11. If needed maybe PR #25 could be the solution.
