Promoting to a stage

Nick DeChant edited this page Jan 13, 2016 · 1 revision

Environments in Teletraan can be divided into stages. The idea of stages is for associating different groups of hosts in an environment. For example, maybe you want to run your new code on a few hosts to test performance before promoting the code to the rest of the fleet. In this case you might want a 'test' stage and a 'prod' stage. In Teletraan, you can have as many stages as you would like and you can promote them in any order.

How to promote to a stage

In order to promote to a stage you need at least 2 stages in your environment. You can create a new stage by going to your environment's landing page, click 'Configure' and then 'Add Stage'.

  1. Navigate to your environment's landing page. After you have conducted at least one deploy, click 'Promote'.
  1. Select which stage to promote to along with an option reason. Then click 'Promote It'. This will start a deploy to the hosts associated with your selected stage.
