Conversation
ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This PR replaces expensive pull-request detail reads for hover previews with focused preview reads across source-control providers and parallelizes GitHub check revalidation. The production behavior remains bounded to pull-request fetching, retains fallbacks, and is covered by focused tests. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Your reported stalled-endpoint comparison and live payload checks address the validation concern. I did not independently rerun those checks. I withdraw the request to recreate the test in this performance PR. ✏️ Learnings added

Hovering a pull request link loaded the PR's full detail on five hosts. On Bitbucket, GitCafe and Forgejo that took 5 requests to show a title, number, state and author. Each driver now implements
getChangeRequestPreviewwith one pull request read, and the web hover card reads that preview through its own query instead of the detail. Clicking a#nreference is unchanged from main. GitLab also uses it for summaries, which never needed merge settings. GitHub's checks revalidation now pages its 2 or 3 endpoints concurrently. An unavailable endpoint stops the others, so the fallback read starts right away. No caches were added. This revives #18400 without its credential-keyed caches or invalidation logic: 98 production lines instead of 512.
Baseline is
6efe9a088eand candidate is this branch, measured with the same harness through the server's websocket and http routes. Each p50 comes from 5 warm samples after 1 cold sample. Every other action's request count is unchanged on all six drivers, and its latency stayed within noise. Bitbucket's anonymous rate limit cut the live run short: the 4 successful candidate samples were 492, 554, 408 and 456 ms. Azure DevOps (azneeds a login) and Forgejo (needs an fj/tea login) could not be read live without credentials.Every action each driver supports ran on main and on this branch: list, preview, summary, detail, files and diff, checks, activity, review guide, watch and branch status. Payloads were identical apart from observation timestamps. Write actions ran only against stand-ins. The six driver suites (634 tests after main's test cleanup in #22557), package typechecks, lint and format pass. A stalled
/statusendpoint made the checks fallback test time out before the fix. #22557 then deleted that test file, so this PR leaves it deleted. In a dev build of this branch, a hover makes one preview request and no detail request, clicking a#nreference still opens the panel, and a failed hover read does not change where the click goes. The screenshots are from that build.model: gpt-6.1-sol (driver changes, benchmarks, e2e) and claude-opus-5-5 (integration, review fix). harness: claude code in t3 code.
