[Bug]: GIT Text generation failed in generateCommitMessage. When Codex not installed. #5182

Sorry there is setting allowing to choose writer model. Not very clear but is, dont know why codex is default when there is no codex installed.
I also had this issue as I exclusively use OpenCode. To resolve this:
Go to
Settings
ClickSource Control
Under "Text generation", find "Source control writer model"
Toggle On and select a model available to youReacted by aminahbl and sirchto add some context - opencode user here, for some reason it only discover models available locally from where the server is run, i had to activate opencode on my machine to see the available models listed on "Source control writer model", even though I am running it remotely.

Just click on git button to commit, or push..it will show error
Text generation failed in generateCommitMessage: Failed to spawn Codex CLI processI dont use codex, i only use Claude code.
Expected behavior
Should work with selected AI model or should have setting that no need automatic text generation.
Actual behavior
Error message appears and operation halfway dies with error text:
