[Bug]: Mobile app model picker does not identify OpenCode model providers and shows incorrect logo #4890

Before submitting

  • I searched existing issues and did not find a duplicate.
  • I included enough detail to reproduce or investigate the problem.

Area

Not sure

Steps to reproduce

Two issues with the new mobile app:

  1. The OpenCode provider shows the OpenAI icon instead of the OpenCode icon
Image
  1. In my OpenCode setup, I have access to the same model via multiple different providers/subscriptions (Anthropic, Zen, GitHub Copilot, etc), but I have no way of knowing which one I'm selecting when choosing a model.

Both of these would probably be fixed by migrating the much superior desktop/web model chooser to the mobile app.

Expected behavior

  1. I should see the OpenCode Icon
  2. I should be able to see the provider for a given OpenCode model

Actual behavior

  1. Shows the OpenAI icon
  2. Shows the same model name multiple times with no way to differentiate

Actually no only the icon was fixed. Still can't distinguish providers within OpenCode

Same issue on the new model picker. image

On mobile, this is effectively impossible to use with OpenCode when several providers expose the same model. I currently see around six entries named GPT-5.6 Luna, with no provider or account label to distinguish them. The desktop picker shows the provider, so I can tell which entry I am selecting there. Without that information on mobile, selecting the intended Luna variant is guesswork.

One additional workaround/context: I removed the extra duplicate models by hiding them, which makes the picker usable, but maintaining the hidden list is tedious as available providers and models change.

On mobile, I can have several identical GPT-5.6 Luna entries from OpenAI, OpenCode Zen, OpenCodeGo, etc., with no visible source. It would be much clearer if both the picker rows and the selected value showed Model · Provider, as the desktop picker does.

    Bump.

Encountered this issue on Android, opencode is very difficult to use on Android because of this. Was going to open a new issue for this, but found this as "duplicate".

    Hope this gets resolved soon.

Closing as fixed by #8573. The mobile model picker now shows each model's subProvider label and includes that label in search and accessibility text for new and existing threads.

This is part of an automated closure pass based on our investigation. The code is merged on main, but this pass did not verify its App Store, EAS, or OTA rollout.
