[Feature]: Amp Code (or CLI agent) support #1055

Problem or use case

I would like to use Amp Code as an agent in T3 Code.

Proposed solution

Maybe use something like amp-acp to have an ACP layer on top of Amp. Alternatively, could use the Amp SDK.

Ideally, we should be able to see the Amp Free ads to get free usage.

Why this matters

Amp Code is a great agent with distinct features. Also, some of us have credits or Amp Free allowances that allow us to go further without paying while still using premium models.

Smallest useful scope

"CLI agent" support where t3code still manages Git and worktrees, and slaps a shell with Amp as the agent.

    @7A7z

    If they were to support amp code inside t3code it will be the same story as the amp-code ACP inside zed , You wont be able to use the free allowance because ads are not guaranteed to be displayed over the SDK.

    Im also sure that the team would not like to slap ads on t3code. just sayin :)

    It would be unfortunate but understandable to not show ads, also because I'm not sure if Amp itself would be ok with showing ads in third-party frontends.

    Still, the smallest useful scope proposed in this issue would still be enough and also be flexible enough: just let me replace the agent part with a terminal running the CLI agent of my choice, while keeping T3 Code's git, worktree, diff, terminal and workspace features

    Both the Amp SDK and that Amp ACP on the ACP registry (uses SDK under the hood) do not allow for full streaming like the Codex SDK. It will stream fully completed turn blocks instead of a token by token. This would mean a worse user experience for users, albeit last time I checked T3 Code turns full streaming off by default and requires you to manually turn it on in the settings.

    There is another ACP which is not on the registry that does do full streaming but I believe the T3 Code's intention is to do SDK first implementations for supported coding agents rather than using ACP as this allows finer control around what is shown to the user and what actions can be taken.

    When it comes to ads, Amp has disabled new enrolees for the Amp free tier and there is no way to get ads as the SDK does not support that and the developers have confirmed (afaik) that they will not attempt to do ads in the SDK. Given this I wouldn't prioritise this as part of the feature

    Then I stand by my CLI agent feature request.

    I second this, Amp is a useful CLI agent, especially with the $10-20 of free usage per day. I'd love for this to be implemented. Right now this is the major thing(also used to be claude code but that's merged now!) that's keeping me from fully switching from cmux to t3 code.
