Background sync does not seems to work

Describe the bug
Hello, automatic background sync does not seems to work.

I took picture, so there is new picture.
EasySync is configured to sync when charging and on wifi.
Sync are made on webdav Nextcloud server.
All the option to let it run in background are on. (and it's green in the app)

I am connected to wifi (but in airplane mode) as i am at home. (and connexion is ok as i could receive phone call with vowifi or web notification like Matrix)
I plug the phone to the charger, and let it charge to 80%. (limit configured into android to charge to 80%)
==> Even if i let the phone charge more, nothing happen, easysync does not seems to sync. I let it plug something near 1h and nothing happen.

If i open the app i see the that "Dav connected" change to green -but seem not to be green just before it seems to be grey when i open but perhaps it's normal), and if i click on sync, of course it sync and all is ok (new picture appear on the server).

So manually sync are ok, but background sync seems to do nothing.

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

• Device brand/model: Pixel 6a
• Android version: 15 ( with mars patch)
• EasySync from Frandroid

What about when airplane mode is off?

I test with out airplane mode but connected to wifi.
I plug it to charge, wait a moment and then it change nothing.
No sync happen.

I will put some case report but i wan t to find reproductive case and result.

Hello, so here are my repports.

Case 1:
Reboot phone.
Take 1 picture + 1 screenshot

• Plug it and do nothing.
  ==> Nothing happen, no sync

• Open Easysync app
  ==> 100% sync then waiting and picture has been uploaded

• Go back to android home from Easysync with home android button (not back), Unplug the phone
  Take 1 picture + 1 screenshot
  Plug it again and wait 1H
  ==> Nothing happen no sync

• Open Easysync app
  ==> 100% sync then waiting and picture has been uploaded

So work only if Easysync is at first plan.

Case2:
I change settings to let it sync on battery but i let only when wifi is on

• I let wifi on from the begining and make some test
  Take 1 picture
  Do nothing and wait
  ==> Sync work doing nothing (in five minutes something like that)
  Take 1 picture again
  Do nothing and wait
  ==> Sync work doing nothing (in five minutes something like that)

• I turn off wifi, an go to gsm.
  Take 1 picture
  Do nothing and wait
  ==> Ok no sync that's normal

• I put in airplane mode and enable wifi
  Do nothing and wait
  ==> Picture immediatly appear
  Take an other picture and wait
  ==> Picture appear in 1 minutes maximum

Take 5 pictures and wait
==> Pictures appear in 1 minutes maximum

So detect network like as it should.

Case3:
I change settings to let it sync on gsm but set to sync only when charging

• I stay unplugged, in airplane mode but wifi on.
  take 1 Picture
  ==> Nothing happen so ok.
• I plug the phone, do nothing and wait
  ==> Nothing happen, no sync
• I turn off wifi and turn on gsm
  ==> Nothing happen, no sync
• Go back to airplane + wifi on and remove the 80% limitation to see if change something and let it grow 1% (so 81% after a time)
  ==> Nothing happen, no sync so not related to the 80% limitation
  *Unplug the phone, Open Easysync app
  ==> Nothing happen, no sync

It seems a problem with the constraint requiresCharging, was it working before? If yes it should be an android 15 march problem.

Hello nobody got the same problem?
To summarize, it's the contraint requiresCharging that does not detect that phone is charging.
If i do not turn the option to sync when on battery, it will never sync.

Hi,
I did some tests on android 15 with the charging restriction:

• indeed after 1H there is still no sync of a picture taken while not charging
• a picture taken while charging was synced

This needs further investigations.

Did you try charging overnight? Because a full sync should happen then...

Thank you for your answer. Nop i never try on night because i never let the phone charge one night, i always charge it when i am near it and awake so never the night. :D

i have only tested to let it more after it's full charged to 80% (limit) or 100% that was more then 1h of charging.

Hello one question, does the problem could be related to the lack of the target version of android in the manifest?

Hi, after a few days of testing, sync works properly.
There is one caveat: sync does not trigger immediately when you plug the charger.
It triggers whenever Android decides it (generally during night)...
I didn't care for two weeks, but all my files are here.

Anyway, EasySync is pretty easy with battery, you should not notice any battery drain.
If you do not charge at night, you should probably activate sync on battery.
Apart from initial sync, you should not notice high battery usage.

Yep, it does not use a lot of battery so i will stay like that.

Ok for the targeted version, i did not take a look in the correct file. :)
I was looking in the manifest file, like "old android app".

So all is ok thank you really for the app and the time to answer.
Perhaps just add an information on the main readme to add was you said here for the "charging option"? :)
