Going forward, please never add any dashes or underscores to Python module names or package names. They are unnecessary and ruin the experience. It is okay if readability is slightly harmed without these punctuation characters because compatibility and simplicity are more important to preserve.

Find a good unique name. Here are five:

3. pydotenvfile
4. pydotenvironfile
5. dotenvironfile

It may technically be fine, in practice it helps for the PyPI package name to be the same as the imported module name. Absolutely no one should have to remember that pip install foo-bar is equivalent to pip install foo_bar; it should be a non-discussion, also because the import is not of the same name. It leads to significant unnecessary, avoidable, and pointless confusion without any benefit. Just use pip install foobar and import foobar.
