[I] Replacing Emoji in table with copy paste does not update preview.

Expected behaviour

Preview updates when new emoji is pasted over previous one.

Actual behaviour

Preview remains unchanged despite updating text.

Steps to reproduce

Using a table like this:

Select either emoji, then copy and paste it over the other emoji. Preview will not update when pasting in emoji, but will update if text is changed.

I cannot reproduce this. When I overwrite an emoji the preview updates immediately.

Is there any useful log output if you enable the log panel (see Window / Panels)? Please make sure you also enable debug logging in the log panel (by right-clicking on the panel and selecting Debug in Options).

And can you please try opening QOwnNotes in a new session, see https://www.qownnotes.org/getting-started/cli-parameters.html.

Thank you for looking into it, I have attached a video showing the error. Unfortunately the log does not seem to show anything. This also only seems to happen when pasting over an emoji. I hope this helps, if not, I will try looking into it more.

Could be some multibyte string differences on Windows, haven't found a solution yet. 🤔

I believe you are correct, I have done some tests with the ✅, 🚫, 💚, and ❌ emojis. ❌ and ✅ have the same 2 start bytes (27) and 🚫 and 💚 have (1F). If you paste the heart over the X it will update correctly, but not if you paste it over the 🚫.

I hope this information helps. I would assume you have to do some check on the other bytes in the character.

I can confirm this behaviour with fresh portable installs of 25.4.5, 26.1.7 and 26.1.9.

Also note that when auto-formatting the table using Ctrl+Space, the emoji cells are given an extra space:
